Privacy policy
Unvanilla is run by ARX Algorithms Ltd ("we"). Questions or requests: hello@unvanilla.app.
The short version
Almost everything you make in the app (your brand set-up, ideas, plans, videos and rooms) is stored on your phone, not on our servers. We only send what's needed to give you an answer, and we don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
What we collect, and why
- Your account. When you sign in with Apple we get an account id and, if you choose to share it, your email (which may be an Apple private relay address). We use it to keep your plan and your monthly allowance with you.
- Your plan and usage. Which plan you're on, when it ends, and how many credits you've used this month, so we can apply the limits of your plan.
- What you ask the director. When you ask for ideas, plans, reviews and so on, the app sends what's needed for that answer: for example the text of your brand set-up, your idea, a few still frames from a take and its transcript. These are processed to make the answer and are not used to build advertising profiles. Results of long requests are kept for up to two days so your phone can collect them, then deleted.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, a push token so we can tell you when something is ready or remind you to post.
- Connected accounts. If you connect Instagram or YouTube, we keep the access they grant so the app can read your posts' numbers and comments. You can disconnect at any time in the app.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We receive confirmation of which plan you bought and when it renews or ends, never your card details.
Speech in your takes is transcribed on your phone. Your camera, microphone, photos and location are only used for the features you use them in; your rough location is used only to work out where the sun is.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase (hosting, database and sign-in)
- Anthropic (the AI that writes and reviews; it does not train on data sent through its API)
- RevenueCat and Apple (subscriptions)
- Expo (delivering notifications)
- Meta and Google, only if you connect Instagram or YouTube
How long we keep it
Account, plan and usage records are kept while you have an account. Delete your account in the app (You, then Account, then Delete account) and we delete them. Anything stored on your phone is removed when you delete the app.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing us. If you're in the UK or EU you can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Children
The app isn't meant for anyone under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
